Our programs are the core of our work. From leading youth through curriculum built on Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards to our famous Cooking for Salud® program, our programs are impactful, educational, and hands-on to meet the needs of our community at all ages.
Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center’s outdoor classroom and teaching kitchen applies science-based environmental education lessons, hands-on gardening, and hands-on cooking to promote sustainable agriculture, healthy eating, and healthy living for local students!
Cooking for Salud® is a bilingual English and Spanish nutrition education and behavior modification program designed to teach participants how to make healthy changes at home that will improve their families’ short and long-term health outcomes.
Olivewood has multiple opportunities for high school students to get involved in the gardens! There are three internships throughout the year; the Sustainable Urban Agriculture Internship in the fall, a Garden to Kitchen Internship in the spring, and the Youth Community Leadership Program.
Kitchenistas® are graduates of our Cooking for Salud® program. As part of the Kitchenistas Community Engagement Program, these graduates continue learning topics such as nutrition and health, leadership development, public speaking, emotional wellbeing, financial literacy, and others through ongoing Olivewood classes and workshops free of cost.
